MamaBear 101

Lift, Learn, Grow, Repeat.

This is an 8-week course for mamas wanting to work on strength, mobility, and stability with considerations specific to a mama’s pelvic floor and core.

In this course you will gain a better understanding of the pelvic floor and develop an awareness of it. We will also work on breathing control, proper lifting and movement education, and learning how to promote additional self-love and compassion.

For your safety you must be 12 weeks or more postpartum to participate.

We create a space where you are safe, seen and heard for all things mama.

Other notable breakout discussions surround sleep health, life balance, sex, body image and evolving topics unique to our MamaBears today.

Limit of 12 mamas per 8-week course.

MamaBear 102

Lift, Learn, Grow, Dominate.

This is an 8-week course for mamas wanting to expand upon their knowledge acquired in MamaBear 101.

In this course we will take a deeper dive into the physiology of the pelvic floor and core. We will identify new loading opportunities and more complex movement progressions to further encourage strength gains, stability, and mobility. With respect to breath-work, time will be spent on awareness and identification of new breathing opportunities.

For your safety you must be 12 weeks or more postpartum to participate. All mamas welcome – even if you are 70 years postpartum!

We create a space where you are safe, seen and heard for all things mama. This course will offer time to connect, reconnect and re-center upon what mama has learned in the prior course.

It also is an opportunity for deeper self-connection and provides a continuation of time devoted to self-evaluation and taking advantage of change opportunities.

Limit of 12 mamas per 8-week course.

Mindset MamaBear Course

Meet Your MamaBear Leader/Coach!

Mary-Katherine Thompson Miller

Mary-Katherine Thompson Miller

Barre Prime, SCW Group Ex

Mary-Katherine attended Kalamazoo College, where she received a bachelor’s degree in English and Education. From there, she went on to attain a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford, Connecticut and spent a decade teaching middle and high school students. Since then, she has continued to teach but not solely in a traditional classroom. It is the idea of being a life-long learner that has captivated Mary-Katherine most and that allows her to capitalize on her teaching skills and love of education in a variety of places, including the Mindset Gym floor!

For years, Mary-Katherine did IVF to have her daughter, Grace. During these years, it felt like her body wasn’t her own because the sole focus was on getting pregnant, staying pregnant, and delivering a healthy little person into the world. On February 10, 2016, all of that hard work paid off because Grace Thompson Miller finally arrived in the world – happy and healthy! Unfortunately, the trauma of delivery was significant and left Mary-Katherine needing follow-up pelvic reconstruction surgeries, as well as many other complications that required intensive physical therapy and medical interventions.

In the following years, Mary-Katherine turned her post-delivery traumas into her new starting place. She joined a gym where she quickly started teaching spin, barre, and dance fitness to back control of her body. Two years ago, through complete happenstance, her path crossed with Dr. Ellen Hector’s and the rest is history. Mary-Katherine has been the MamaBear lead coach since January 2022, in addition to her Mindset WOD coaching responsibilities. Since then, she has worked with over 50 MamaBears looking to make change for themselves and in our community. MamaBear focuses on helping mothers develop skills to improve the quality of their movement, focus on their relationship with their body, frame their mindset to promote growth, and ways to carry the hardships and wonder of motherhood while maintaining a sense of self.

In her free time, Mary-Katherine loves to read, travel, and thrift. She lives with her husband, Andy, of 15 years and her daughter, Grace, who is now 7. Mary-Katherine also works as a Reading Interventionist at Amberly Elementary, where Grace goes to school. While the type of classroom might have changed, Mary-Katherine’s passion continues to be on empowering others through education.
